I know I made this a couple weeks ago and promised to share the recipe… but all of your waiting has finally paid off.
This is hands down one of the most delicious things I have ever made. If you like spicy food, then you will LOVE this spicy sriracha hummus recipe.
Hummus is such an easy thing you can make at home. I know it’s also really easy to just buy a package of hummus from the grocery store, but the benefit of making your own hummus is that it saves you money (if you have all the basics on hand), you can avoid consuming preservatives or other additives, and you can choose all the ingredients yourself.
Don’t get me wrong, I definitely buy hummus from the store now and then, but there’s something so wonderful about making your own, and in my opinion, it ALWAYS tastes better than store-bought.
With that said… here’s what you’ve all been waiting for!
**I’ve even included a downloadable version with nutritional information at the very end of this post.
Note: I don’t use canned chickpeas, so I have been cooking them from scratch. However, you can definitely use canned chickpeas. Be sure to select those with no sodium added, and to drain and rinse before placing in the food processor. This recipe makes the perfect amount for one person (maybe 2) to enjoy all week, so double the recipe for more!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup cooked chickpeas
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tbsp sriracha
- 2 tbsp tahini
- 1/2 tbsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tbs extra virgin olive oil
- 2 small cloves garlic
- 1/8 tsp cumin
- 1/8 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp sea salt (or to taste)
- 1 tbsp water (or more)
Instructions:
Place all ingredients (except water) in a food processor and blend until smooth. Add one tablespoon of filtered water at a time until desired consistency is reached. I used about 4-5 tablespoons of water. To serve, top with red pepper flakes for an extra kick. Enjoy!
